Preparations for surgery
- It is prohibited for the patient to take any medicine containing acetylsalicylic acid e.g. aspirin or other drugs affecting blood coagulation system, including drugs of herbal origin (especially garlic), minimum 2 weeks prior to the term of surgery.
- It is prohibited to take acetaminophen and painkillers from the NSAIDs group (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) up to two days prior to surgery.
- The need for discontinuation of hormonal contraceptives and hormonal replacement therapy minimum one month prior to surgery.
- The need for prior notification of any health problems and medicines taken.
- Before surgery under general anesthetic, the patient should be in fasting state for minimum 6 hours.
- No smoking on the day of surgery is allowed.
